The oceans are saturated: It is estimated that 15-40% of the world's fisheries are illegal, unreported or unregulated (IUU), with an estimated value of up to US$23 billion per year according to FAO. This overfishing threatens eco-systems, reduces fish stocks and impoverishes artisanal fishermen, their families, traders and the millions of people who depend on fishing for their livelihoods.
