He sends cyclists out to collect apple peelings and the leftovers of lettuce in the hilly neighbourhoods of Austin, Texas… and it works. Compost Pedallers offers a 100% eco-compost service. This slightly mad concept was invented by Dustin Fedako, a young, hip man with a long, red beard and neat hair. After 3 years the company employs 14 people, has 650 private clients and 45 companies. And that is only the beginning.

Green industry is booming in Austin. In the city where roofs no longer manage to clear the leaves on the trees, in the middle of Texas, 18,000 people are working on solar power, methanisation, wind turbines, energy storage, electric vehicles, waste recycling and organic farming. Green industry currently represents 2.5 billion dollars in revenue.
It has to be said that the green city is cultivating its ecological side. It is aiming for 55% of its electricity to be produced by renewable energy by 2050, has created the first Green Building programme, and aims to reduce its waste by 90% by 2040. Dustin and his Compost Pedallers have a great future.
